This is the easiest homemade tomato sauce recipe and so so good! A few simple, inexpensive ingredients and very little active cooking time. This tomato sauce makes a great addition to all kinds of dishes and freezes well in a freezer zip-top bag.
Ingredients:
- 10-14 Roma tomatoes (depending on size), washed and quartered
- 1 bulb of fresh garlic, peeled
- 1 medium yellow onion, cut into chunks
- Salt
- Pepper
- Italian seasoning
- Balsamic vinegar
- Avocado oil
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Place tomatoes, garlic, and onion on a large, rimmed baking sheet.
- Season tomato mixture with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and avocado oil. Toss to coat. Turn tomatoes skin side up.
- Note: the above step are ingredients best measured with your heart.
- Roast for 45 minutes.
- Let it cool for 15-20 minutes.
- Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
We have used this sauce on pasta, homemade gluten free pizza, and even a delicacy of chicken nugget parmesan.
