About

Welcome to Palemoon Playhouse, where my aim is to empower you to overcome the feeling of “I can’t”, share projects, tips and tricks of DIY, home and life management, and a few Mom tricks.

Growing up, I was never told that I couldn’t — not that there weren’t boundaries, rules, and expectations, but if I wanted to try something new or set my eyes on a goal, my parents helped me figure out how to get there. Dedication and perseverance are values that were instilled from a young age and is a mindset that has stuck into adulthood. Talent is important, but hustle prevails.

Being raised in a household in which my parents figured out how to handle most repairs on their own has translated into how I handle managing my own home and has evolved into my love for building and creating.

My husband, Jon, and I (along with our two children) live in the suburbs of north Houston in a community of new construction homes. Our neighborhood, location, and neighbors are incredible! After living in our home for a few years we started noticing some areas that could use optimizing. Enter stage left, my newfound love for power tools, YouTube University, and the unexplainable high that I still get from taking an idea and turning it into something tangible and functional.

If you’re still here by now, you’re probably wondering where the name Palemoon Playhouse comes from (or maybe not, but I’m going to tell you anyway). Both of my grandmothers were very creative in their own right, and both shared and taught their craft to others. One was a quilter, the other an artist. My maternal grandmother was the first princess of the Choctaw Tribe of Oklahoma, Princess Palemoon. This blog – or whatever it may evolve into – pays homage to each of my grandmothers and is a thank you to my parents, my husband, brother, family and friends to honor their stamp on my journey and never wavering encouragement and support of even my craziest ideas. I am forever grateful to have this amazing tribe.
